How we digitally

copy your videos

Video Tapes To complete the transfer, VHS tapes are played on a high quality VCR and output via Super VHS connections to equipment that takes the analogue video (stabilising it when necessary with Time Base Correction) and converts it into a digital format. This digital video is then captured directly on a video editing computer using firewire connections. This allows the digitised video to have a resolution of 720x576 giving the best quality VHS transfer. Mini DV tapes are digital in nature and their video is therefore transferred directly to a video editing computer resulting in excellent transfer quaility. Cine Film Cine films are played through dedicated transfer equipment that captures every individual frame on the reel at a rate of 2 frames per second. This ensures that the film is handled more gently in comparison to playing through a projector at 8 times that speed or more. The individual frame captures are then converted into a High Definition video format (higher than DVD) and transferred to a video editing computer. Cine film without sound can have background music added.

The end result - your choice

We will always correct any colour fading as much as possible - and provide fade in / out for each video. It’s then up to you as to whether you prefer to have your converted video on a DVD or Blu-ray disc or a USB memory stick (or both). DVDs and Blu-ray discs can have menus and personalised presentation cases. Blu-ray discs can hold more video - and for Cine Film, can provide a slightly higher resolution than DVD. USB sticks are useful for backing up your videos onto your computer or laptop. Most recent TVs with a USB socket and all computers should be able to play video directly from USB memory sticks.
